Meet Sammy; she’s our incredible Program Intake Specialist and all-around awesome human being. She started with us as a Camp Counsellor in 2015 and then joined our Camp Canada team in 2016….the rest is history!

You have likely come across Sammy during your Camp Canada application process, in Skype interviews or even on summer camp visits.
We asked Sammy to share what she gets up to while in the Camp Canada office and outside of the office. Here’s what she had to say.
1) What does your day to day look like?
Always different! I interview people all hours of the day from all over the world. In between interviews, I’m checking documents, writing up interview reports and connecting with my team. I also like to join in 10- minute activities to break from my desk. On Fridays, I like to treat myself to sushi for lunch!
2) What is your big focus at the moment?
I would say interviewing participants!
3) Describe working at NYQUEST in three words.
Positive. Cooperative. ENJOYABLE.
4) What’s your most memorable NYQUEST Camp Canada moment?
Out of the office: Family camp – being part of the banana/bandana skit (a Jonathan classic)
In the office: Eating ice cream cake on my brief break. I was working at camp during the summer and returning to NYQUEST Camp Canada in the fall. I felt very respected, and I LOVE dessert!!
5) What is your favourite hobby?
Theatre. I enjoy performing and also instructing!
6) What do you get up to in your spare time?
Performing, road trips, running, hanging out with friends, and soon I will start dragon boat racing!
7) Tell us something that people might not know about you.
I used to be a dancer! I got to a high level of ballroom and Latin-America styles of dancing. Now, 14 years after I stopped, I’m looking to start up again!
