Hi everyone! My name is Jess and I’ve recently joined the NYQUEST Camp Canada team.
I was born in Montreal, Quebec (la belle province!) and grew up in the ‘burbs of Toronto. Fast forward many, many, many years later, I moved to our nation’s capital to study at the University of Ottawa and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Sociology.
I first got bit by the travel bug during my studies, where I was fortunate enough to study abroad in England. This was my first experience of living in a different country and one I wouldn’t change for the world. I got to experience a different culture as well as meet plenty of people who I still consider some of my closest friends to this day!
After graduating from OttawaU, I moved back across the pond to England where I spent two memorable years living and working in London. While there, I took every opportunity to travel around the UK, Europe…and drink my body weight in tea.
After a brief visit back home to Canada, I couldn’t shake the travel bug so I decided to make the big move to the land down under where I lived and work for a year. While there, I had the chance to gain experience in my field as well as travel around Australia and New Zealand. I absolutely loved my time there and already can’t wait to go back for a visit!
Most recently, I left Australia and took a three-month journey back home to Canada via South East Asia. While there, I spent my time eating and travelling my way around Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. This is also where I discovered my newest passion in life: scuba diving.
Living and working abroad has been a life-changing experience for me. I got to meet amazing people, try new things, test my limits and experience different cultures around the world.
Although I am no longer gallivanting around the world, I am so excited to be back in Toronto in my new role at NYQUEST Camp Canada to show others why Canada is so amazing and encourage others to experience the joys of travelling and working abroad!
