What You Get

Guaranteed Camp Placement

Once you are accepted onto the program, the team at NYQUEST will consider your specific needs, skill set, and preferences when searching for a suitable placement.

10 Weeks of Health Insurance

NYQUEST will organize and pay for your comprehensive Health Insurance Policy through Guard.Me for up to 10 weeks.

Free Canadian Bank Account

We will help you get set up with a free Canadian bank account that comes with it's own Debit card.  This will allow you to deposit your camp pocket money directly into an account, and spend that money while you're in Canada without incurring additional 'international transaction fees' like you might by using your home credit/debit card. We will also advise on the best way to make international transfers.

Accommodation in Arrival City

NYQUEST will provide you with up to 2 nights of accommodation at a hostel in your arrival city where you can meet other international staff who will be working at summer camps.  These are usually the locations of our training and orientations, so the NYQUEST team is always on hand to help out.

Work Permit Support

NYQUEST makes the work permit process very simple. You do NOT need to interview at a Canadian consulate to receive the work permit. In the vast majority of cases, your work permit will be organized completely via email and in rare cases by regular mail. NYQUEST works with your camp to organize this. This is provided only to participants who apply for camp counsellor positions—not support staff. For those individuals who want to stay in Canada for up to one year, with the possibility of working for multiple employers to help pay for their travels, NYQUEST recommends you apply for the Canadian Working Holiday Permit through the 'International Experience Canada' program.

Support With Extending Your Stay As A Visitor

NYQUEST provides support if you are travelling after your camp placement and if you need to switch over to a visitor visa. We can advise of the exact procedure on a case-by-case basis.

Secondary Camp Placement In The Fall

NYQUEST can arrange a secondary placement for participants wishing to extend their employment and work during the Canadian fall (end of August until end of October) for an additional cost of $100 CAD.

Orientation/Training

Meet other international staff who will be working at your camp and other camps across Canada; Learn about your camp job; Take a tour of your host city; Receive answers to your camp related questions

24 Hour Emergency Support

NYQUEST is just a phone call away if an emergency occurs at any time during your stay in the Canada. You can count on friendly, personal service from any of our staff.

Room and Board Included

Food and accommodation is included while you are onsite at your placement.

Travel Assistance

All participants will receive transportation from the airport to the city centre and instructions how to get to their accommodations in the Canadian host city. They will also receive transportation from the accommodations to their camp placement.

Social Insurance Number

We will help you set up your Social Insurance Number (SIN), which you will need to legally work in Canada.

Camp Visits

NYQUEST will visit most participants during their work experience. We will check in with you to make sure that you are enjoying your placement and if you require any work related, visa/work permit related, or insurance claim related support.
